I led the AI at Mixmax initiative, designing AI-driven solutions that enhance sales workflows while staying true to Mixmax’s mission to "Make sales enjoyable." By integrating AI thoughtfully, I focused on creating tools that support, not replace, sales professionals, bringing efficiency and ease to their daily tasks.

Overview


The AI at Mixmax initiative focused on multiple AI-driven projects to improve sales workflows within the Mixmax sales engagement platform. While introducing AI positioned Mixmax as a tech-forward product in the market, the primary goal was to streamline and enhance sales outreach sequences and content creation for both new and existing users. Usage analysis revealed an opportunity to increase adoption by guiding users to key feature engagement. Sequences, a core driver of engagement and results, were underutilized—only 15% of new users created one, with no structured support for best practices.

My focus was to improve Sequence creation, activation, and overall performance, making it easier for users to get started while optimizing engagement.

As the Design leader for this initiative, I led the UX and design for each new feature and product feature redesign. My key contributions included:

  • Collaborated with PLG team to align onboarding motion to drive usage.
  • Crafted detailed prompt models to test Chat GPT-powered automation.
  • Defined and communicated product vision to align stakeholders and ensure strategic clarity.
  • Conducted competitive analysis, identifed opportunities to ensure market differentiation.
  • Created and optimized designs based on user feedback to improve adoption and engagement.

Mixmax is a leading sales engagement platform designed to help teams drive more meetings and revenue through automated outreach and workflow efficiency. Their customers rely on Sequences to personalize and scale communication—making this a high-impact initiative.

The results spoke for themselves: first-time user Sequence creation increased by 40%, demonstrating a significant boost in activation and adoption. Mixmax was thrilled with the outcome, as this improvement directly contributed to user success, retention, and product stickiness.

This project showcased the power of thoughtful UX and data-driven design, proving that a well-structured onboarding experience can transform engagement and drive meaningful results.

Creating and sourcing sales persona insights to define Jobs to Be Done (JTBD) was the foundation of this initiative. Through research, user interviews, and data analysis, I identified key pain points for SDRs, AEs, CSMs, and Sales Managers, revealing opportunities for AI to streamline full sales sequences and one-off emails. This persona-driven approach informed tailored AI-powered features, enabling sales teams to optimize engagement and save hours in their content creation workflows.

Onboard to instant value

Driving adoption starts with a smooth first-time experience. For sales professionals, setting up sequence automation should feel natural. Instead of navigating complex setup steps, users can type into an open text field to generate a complete, multi-stage outreach sequence—including email content, imagery, CTAs, and booking links. This streamlined approach removes friction and highlights the immediate value of the product, helping users engage prospects faster and focus on closing deals.

AI-Guided Outreach

I designed the AI-assisted sequence wizard to help sales professionals scale outreach without losing a personal touch. I felt the need to create a system that speeds up the workflow without sacrificing control. By introducing structured input fields specific to the sales personas, users could guide AI with audience details, campaign goals, and key messaging points, making it faster to craft tailored sequences that drive engagement.

The one key challenge I uncovered in user research was trust. Not every sales professional is comfortable relying on AI for high-stakes outreach. To address this, I intentionally focused on crafting a UX that keeps users in control, allowing them to refine AI-generated content to match their strategy. Whether the goal is booking meetings, nurturing leads, or driving renewals, this approach ensures every message feels deliberate and effective.

Adaptive Sales Playbook


Sales reps often face the challenge of starting outreach from scratch or figuring out what works best. I designed the Sequence Library to remove guesswork and speed up the process with proven, customizable outreach templates. A browse, preview, and edit experience allows users to quickly adjust built-in best practices with AI generated personalization. This design strikes a balance between structure and flexibility, helping reps send more effective outreach faster, while still making each message feel personal and strategic.


AI-Powered Email Writing

Writing the perfect sales email takes time, but full AI automation can feel impersonal. The challenge was clear once again: how to help sales professionals work faster while keeping control over their messaging. This designed mirrored the others, where users provide key inputs to guide AI, ensuring every message reflects their voice and intent. By balancing automation with personalization, this approach helps sales teams create outreach content more efficiently, without sacrificing the quality or impact of their communication.

Intelligent Content Refinement

The goal: build a solution that helps users write with more confidence and efficiency. Polishing sales emails takes time, but small edits can greatly impact engagement. I designed an in-line AI editor that helps sales teams refine grammar, adjust length, shift tone, and customize messaging—without leaving the email editor. Focused on flexibility and control, the tool ensures AI enhances writing without overriding intent. The result: clearer, more compelling emails, written faster and with more confidence.
